Prayer Meeting
"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made know unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6-7)
Our Friday night prayer meetings has been faithfully attended by some 20 adults. The meetings would start with a short singspiration followed by devotional thoughts from God's Word for 30 minutes. The brethren will then break up into 3 prayer groups after prayer requests have been raised.
We have had the pleasure of Pastors James Chan, Dennis Gibson, Edward Paauwe, Bob Vandermey, Robert Anderson and S.P. Yeo to conduct the devotional sessions for us. Topics have included Prayer in the Christian Life, Christians as the salt and light in this world and devotional thoughts from the Psalms. In their absence, Dr Stephen Lim would lead in a Bible study and Brother Lim Hai Seng also helps, and has done presentations on his mission works in South-east Asia.
Just as petrol is to vehicles, prayers are to the Church. Prayer is the power-house of the Church that keeps all ministries functioning. Without it, all our human efforts would be in vain. We have over the years experienced the Lord's marvellous answers to prayers, both for corporate and individual needs. It is our prayer that more members will see the vital role prayer plays in our service for the Lord and come join in this important endeavour.
